The Italian Time Trial Championships have concluded and in the men’s field they saw Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) win ahead of Edoardo Affini (Visma Lease a Bike) and Filippo Baroncini (UAE Team Emirates)
Present to award the prize was the President of the Professional Cycling League, the Hon. Roberto Pella, who followed Ganna by car during all 35 km of the route and then rewarded him by personally giving him the tricolor jersey (2024 edition).
“I congratulate the top 3 finishers, and all the participants, who showed great strength in a competition that was difficult to interpret technically. – Pella’s words – A high profile result for the entire Italian professional movement”.
Pella wanted to highlight the success of the event by emphasizing teamwork. “I thank the Governor Eugenio Giani for its active contribution to the success of the project and the Municipality of Grosseto, for having believed in the ‘Toscana Tricolore’ format from the beginning. My personal thanks clearly go to the FCI General Secretary Marcello Tolu, to the Minister of Sport Andrea Abodi, to the mayor Antonfrancesco Vivarelli Colonnato my fellow MP and Sports Councilor Fabrizio Rossi, to the President of the FCI Toscana Committee Saverio Putand to the President of UC Larcianese Gabriele Varignani, organizer of ‘Toscana Tricolore 2024’. I underline, once again, the high quality of the production work carried out by RAI. Now the appointment, for us in the League, will be on Sunday in Sesto Fiorentino, where the road test of the Assoluti men will be held, and where, together with the FCI president Cordiano Dagnoni, we will reward the winner by giving him the tricolor jersey”.
