Weather: Lombardy with extreme weather!

In Lombardythe current weather is marked by a heat wave which has raised temperatures to almost 30°C on the plain, with peaks of 33°C in some locations. The Lombard sky appears veiled, with a yellowish shade tending towards orange due to the Saharan dust, the result of a new heat wave coming from Africa which is affecting the entire Italian peninsula.

Weather forecast for the next few days

On Thursday 20 June, a slight decrease in temperatures is expected due to increased cloud cover. In the afternoon, atmospheric instability could cause thunderstorms in the Alpine and pre-Alpine areas, accompanied by strong gusts of wind. Cloud cover will keep temperatures high both day and night in the plains, without significant temperature inversions. Despite the heat, temperatures are within the average seasonal limits, approaching those typical of July, the hottest month for the Lombardy.

Friday and weekend

Friday will still be a hot day, especially in the eastern sector of the region. In the western sector, however, a drop in temperatures is expected due to a greater probability of thunderstorms, which could affect cities such as Milan, Bergamo, Lecco, How And Monza. However, the forecast for thunderstorms remains uncertain and depends on local weather conditions.

On Saturday, the weather will be typically summery across the country Lombardy, with generally clear or slightly cloudy skies. Daytime cloud cover will be low and the risk of thunderstorms will be minimal. Temperatures in the plains could again reach 30°C.

On Sunday, temperatures will begin to drop and the weather will change, with widespread thunderstorms in the second half of the day. These phenomena could be locally intense, but a significant worsening of the weather is not expected.

I begin next week

On Monday, weather instability will continue with patchy cloud cover increasing in the afternoon, leading to scattered thunderstorms across the region. Although particularly heavy rain is not expected, some downpours could reach storm intensity. During storms, hail with medium-sized stones cannot be ruled out.

This year, summer in Lombardy, at least for the month of June, is decidedly less hot than the years 2022 and 2023, when extremely high temperatures were recorded. Seasonal forecasts, while uncertain, suggest a warmer-than-average July, with above-normal rainfall in some areas of the region.
