Entrepreneur died in Cagliari after a robbery: Ciprian Baiceanu acquitted, 4 years to Ilaria Gaviano

Ciprian Baiceanu acquitted for not having committed the crime, Ilaria Gaviano sentenced to 4 years for robbery, death as a consequence of another crime and improper use of credit cards. This brings to a close the trial linked to the death of Mario Mulas, the entrepreneur who died eight months ago in Viale Elmas after falling from the window of his office on the first floor of a block of flats. Judge Giorgio Aliteri only partially accepted the prosecutor’s requests. The Romanian leaves prison after eight months, while the girl is expected to be transferred to a recovery community: at least, this is what her lawyer, Carlo Demurtas, is ready to ask: “The judge postponed the discussion on the point until the 12th next September, to evaluate this possibility.” Carlo Amat, Baiceanu’s lawyer, is satisfied: “I had maintained from the first moment that my client was totally unrelated to the matter, I consider myself very satisfied.” Bitterness remains “for the eight months in prison unjustly committed by Baiceanu”. The victim was found dead after the flight from the window of one of the offices of the building owned by her family, owner of a car tire business.

Gaviano had confessed to the robbery and to having locked him before fleeing in her van, accusing Baiceanu of being her accomplice. The girl will have to pay a provision of 20 thousand euros to each of Mario Mulas’ children and also to his wife. Their lawyer is Luca Sannio: “The pain of Mulas’s family will forever be insurmountable. I remember that Gaviano never showed any sign of repentance, just as she never gave a thought to the entrepreneur’s relatives”.
