The Modica chocolate museum hosts the Masci Roma 12 – il Fatto Nisseno group

A large delegation from the MASCI – Roma 12 group was today a guest of the Chocolate Museum in Modica.

Initiative undertaken by the Masci Comunità Modica 1 Group and in particular by Magister Francesco Vasco, assisted by the other members of the group, including Nino Garaffa and Saro Cannata, coordinator of the Netina area, who allowed the group of the Italian Catholic Adult Scout Movement of Rome to get to know Modica and the cities of south-eastern Sicily.

Welcoming the Roman group was the Director of the Consortium Nino Scivoletto who illustrated the history of Modica chocolate, through the archival documents which, thanks to the research by Grazia Dormiente, conducted at the State Archives of Modica – Grimaldi Fund, gave certainty about the personal details with Modica chocolate, setting the date of birth in 1746.






Gianni Frasca, museum operator, illustrated to those present the peculiarities of the first and only PGI brand chocolate in Europe, illustrating the eighteenth-century-derived processing technique as well as the origins of the cocoa from which the product derives.

The group was subsequently received by the Director of the Consortium, in his office, who gave everyone mini-bars of Modica PGI chocolate and a leaflet with the history of chocolate, while the Magister of the Group, Anna Maria Volpe, was The Modica PGI chocolate bar with the Consortium’s institutional wrapping was donated.

On this occasion the director illustrated to those present the Digital Passport, the anti-counterfeiting tool of the State Printing Office which, through the Trust Your Food application, allows all consumers to ascertain the originality of Modica PGI chocolate, as well as guaranteeing traceability of each finger.
