Applications to participate by 16 July 2024 (2.00 pm)

The University of Siena has announced the publication of two new calls for admission to PhD courses for the academic year 2024-2025. Overall, 182 new places are available, of which 142 with scholarships. These places are distributed across 16 doctorates accredited by the Ministry of University and Research, as well as a doctorate of national interest in “Innovation in the diagnosis, prevention and therapy of infections at epidemic-pandemic risk”.

Training offer and doctorates available

The educational offer includes a variety of doctoral courses that aim to prepare students for the methodology for advanced scientific research, including internships abroad and attendance at research laboratories. The published doctorates are:

  • Biochemistry and Molecular Biology BiBM 2.0
  • Medical biotechnology
  • Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Sustainability Law and Management (DiMaS)
  • Economics
  • Philology and Criticism
  • Experimental Physics
  • Genetics, Oncology and Clinical Medicine (GENOMEC)
  • Information Engineering and Science
  • Molecular Medicine
  • Translational and Precision Medicine
  • Life Sciences – Life Sciences
  • Environmental, Geological and Polar Sciences and Technologies
  • Legal Sciences
  • Social Sciences and Humanities

The doctorate of national interest in “Innovation in the diagnosis, prevention and therapy of infections at epidemic-pandemic risk” was established with the contribution of the Biotecnopolo Foundation of Siena and sees the participation, for the 40th cycle, of eight other Italian universities.

Scholarships and funding

The Tuscany Region finances 28 Pegaso scholarships as part of six doctorates in agreement with other Tuscan universities. For doctorates of national interest, 31 scholarships are available, of which 30 are co-financed by the Biotecnopolo Foundation of Siena and one by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità.

How to submit the application

Applications for admission to doctoral courses must be submitted by July 16th at 2.00 pm via the online Secretariat platform of the University of Siena. Those in possession of a master’s or specialist degree obtained according to the old system or a suitable foreign qualification within the terms indicated in the announcement can apply, without citizenship limitations. The degrees required for each doctorate are specified in the attachments to the announcement.
