The Treviso summer begins, with lots of music, shows and culture

The Treviso summer schedule is ready to go. Culture and entertainment are the order of the day in this “enchanted” program which sees 180 events color squares, gardens, halls and streets, from 21 June to 21 September, i.e. 92 days with an investment of 85 thousand euros. 20 associations involved across music, art, theatre, comedy and food and wine, called upon to create a schedule capable of intercepting the needs of citizens. Also for this reason, this year it was decided to increase the shows in the neighbourhoods, in particular Sant’Angelo, Santa Bona, Canizzano and San Giuseppe, but also the Prato della Fiera and the Teatro degli Cerchi, alongside the most iconic and experiences of the historic center such as the Loggia dei Cavalieri, Piazza Borsa, Piazza Rinaldi, the Santa Caterina museum, the Mario del Monaco theater and many others, but also important innovations such as the gardens of Sant’Andrea, on which work is being done, to transform them into a permanent place of culture.

It starts on June 21st, the date on which the European Music Day occurs, promoted by the Ministry of Culture. The event, on the theme “We are the first orchestra”, is dedicated to musical bands. Thanks to the collaboration with the Manzato association, the “Steffani” conservatory of Castelfranco and 21 Gallery, it will be possible to spend an entire day dedicated to music, with three events in Piazza Pola, the Santa Caterina auditorium and the gardens of Saint Andrew. Music returns to be a major protagonist from 12 to 27 July with Suoni di Marca, a festival which for over thirty years has embellished the city walls with large concerts, a rich journey of taste and the exhibition-market. Among the artists who will animate Suoni di Marca include the Santi Francesi, the great revelation of Sanremo 2024, Paolo Benvegnù + La Crus, Matthew Lee, Modena City Ramblers, Valerio Lundini and I Vazzanikki, Gio Evan, Eugenio in via di Gioia and Planet Funk. And the cloister of the Santa Caterina museum will also resonate with music, thanks to the proposals of Asolo Musica, there will be the review dedicated to choral music “Treviso Incanto” and the long-awaited return of “Treviblues”.

There will be no shortage of open-air cinema and theatre, which will feature comedy faces such as Carlo & Giorgio, Andrea Paris, Leonardo Manera, Dado, Marino Bartoletti, Antonio Mezzancella, Duo Idea and Gianluca Impastato with screenings, shows and reviews; the films screened will bear the signatures of some of the greatest directors on the Italian and international scene such as Massimo Venier, Florestano Vancini, Mario Martone, Guy Ritchie, Claudio Bisio, Edoardo De Angelis, Leonardo Pieraccioni, Paola Cortellesi, Neri Marcoré, Matteo Garrone, Luca Lucini as well as Dino Risi and Sergio Leone. And then again, “Teatro che Pazzia”, “Teatro da bere e da eat”, “Aprisogni”, the circus (without animals) in Piazza Rinaldi with Arteven, the events dedicated to contemporary theater of the Gea – Gioiosaetamorosa festival and the shows for children and families of the Some at the arena set up in the Talking Trees park.

Other initiatives are “Treviso Retrò – music, theater and amenities of times gone by” in Piazza Santa Maria dei Battuti, the “Sile folk folklore festival” with folkloric dances and groups from Venezuela, Spain, Kenya and Portugal, and even an evening dedicated to Sardinian music and dance, “Terra Mia. Sardinia in music”. Finally, thanks to the tourist office, summer could become a time for studying and rediscovering your own city. In fact, a series of thematic guided tours are planned: “Treviso at sunset”, “Woman on stage – Boldini Selvatico Martini”, and “Treviso, which all laughs at clear fountains”, dedicated to the city’s many fountains.

“This large and varied program shows that the cultural offer must be managed within a coordinated cultural system that brings together the best of the territory” explains the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Treviso, Maria Teresa De Gregorio. The mayor, Mario Conte, adds: “Behind every event there is a world of volunteering and passion: we would have liked to do more on an economic level, because the social value of the Enchanted Summer is very great. Culture serves to raise the bar of citizens’ quality of life.”
