The checks, also conducted in “high impact” mode with the synergistic involvement of the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza and the local police forces, affected the key streets of the historic centers of Modica, Scicli and Ispica, areas frequented by numerous young people. In Modica, particular attention was paid to the fight against drug dealing and consumption in via Grimaldi and the adjacent streets, with searches aimed at finding illicit substances. In this context, the investigative team of the Commissariat reported five drug users to the Prefecture of Ragusa, seizing several doses of hashish and marijuana.
Other checks
The patrolling of Modica Alta led the Flying Police officers to issue ten reports for infringements of the Highway Code against drivers of undisciplined motor vehicles, which are in addition to the previous complaints. The checks also extended to the regular conduct of entertainment activities. Four premises in Scicli and the same number in Ispica were checked, and their positions are currently being examined by the administrative police office.
Weekend review
Over the weekend, they were identified a total of 400 people and 160 vehicles checked. These results highlight the effectiveness of the territorial control services and the determination of the police in guaranteeing safety and respect for the law in the places most frequented by young people during the summer season.
