The Modica police station last weekend, in consideration of the summer season now underway, intensified checks on people, vehicles and entertainment venues. These targeted territorial control services were carried out, with a view to preventing crimes and peacefully carrying out recreational activities, as part of the broader services provided in the province on the basis of the directives given by the police commissioner of the province of Ragusa Vincenzo Trombadore.
The services, also carried out in “high impact” mode, i.e. with the synergistic involvement (in addition to the state police) of the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza and the local police forces competent for the territory from time to time, involved the nerve centers of the historic centers of Modica, Scicli and Ispica, frequented by many young people.
In Modica the fight against drug dealing and consumption continues unabated in Via Grimaldi and adjacent streets, where the police have carried out searches in search of drugs. In this context, the police station’s investigative team reported 5 users to the Prefecture of Ragusa, seizing multiple doses of hashish and marijuana.
Particular attention was paid to patrolling the streets of Modica Alta where the police officers issued 10 reports of complaints for infringements of the Highway Code against drivers of undisciplined motor vehicles, which are in addition to those already formulated previously.
The checks also concerned the regular carrying out of entertainment activities: specifically, 4 venues in Scicli and 4 Ispica were checked, the locations of which are being examined by the administrative police office. Over the weekend alone, 400 people were identified and 160 vehicles checked.
