Alcohol, shouting and finally beatings. Usual script. This time the target was a trader in via Mariannina Coffa, in the historic center of upper Ragusa, who was attacked, for trivial reasons, by a non-EU citizen. A serious incident that raises the issue of safety and public order right at the beginning of the summer season.

“Tuesday evening’s episode is very serious for the image that the city offers to tourists at the beginning of summer – explains the territorial president of Confimprese Iblea, Peppe Occhipinti – we thank the police who promptly intervened. in via Coffa. For months we have, several times, raised a thousand doubts about the anti-bivouac ordinance which, in fact, is not enforced. Mayor Cassi continues to ignore a serious problem that affects an important part of his territory. The churchyard of San Giovanni, late in the evening, transforms into a football field with dozens of citizens, sitting on stone seats, bivouacking and consuming alcoholic drinks”. Confimprese Iblea asks the prefect to intervene in a widespread manner with joint checks.

“We note that the citizens of Ragusa have abandoned the historic center by renting homes, often without any rental contract, to immigrant citizens. Entire neighborhoods in total decay with rubbish being deposited on street corners. Our only salvation is tourists but we certainly cannot offer this unworthy spectacle with attacks on traders.” Confimprese then focuses on the local police station, in the basement of Palazzo Ina, which was supposed to give a strong hand in controlling the territory.

‘The police are only busy fining residents’ parked cars – comments Occhipinti – no checks on dilapidated homes and on those who, with impunity, continue not to respect the anti-bivouac ordinance’. The solidarity and closeness of the entire board of directors, of the provincial president Pippo Occhipinti and of the associates of Confimprese Iblea attacked the trader in via Coffa.
