A four days full of events with the traditional fireworks at the end. The Municipality of Turin has revealed this year’s programme patronal feast of San Giovanni. The initiatives will start from tomorrow, with opening concert at the Gran Madrewith 65 orchestral members and choristers from the Melos Philharmonictogether with Choeur Philharmonique of Nice directed by Maestro Giulio Magnanini. The event, initially scheduled for the Monumental Cemetery but moved indoors due to the expected bad weather, is free entry with registrations via email ([email protected]).

The Church, which also houses the Shrine of the Fallen of the First World War, will be there for the occasion open to the public exceptionally, again tomorrow, from 3.30pm to 7pm. At 6.30pm there will also be readings by a group of poets gathered under the banner of Summer solstice which will instead take place at Gam.

The busy program will continue on Saturday 22 June with the parade through the streets of the center of the Bersaglieri departing from La Marmora gardens. In the evening there will be initiatives in some of the main squares of the city such as Palazzo di Città, Castello and Carignano.

On Sunday 23 June the party will come to life. Starting from 2pm it will be possible to do so a canoe experience in the Murazzi del Poat 6pm there will be the San Giovanni parade with period costumes through the streets of the historic center, while at 8pm the degree thesis award on Turin at Palazzo Civico.
The association’s concert will close the evening Nida di Falchera, 2&Spades Noemy and their friends superheroes and princesses, and the ignition of the traditional Lighthouse in Piazza Castello, where – as per tradition – the fortune of the City for next year will be decreed.

Monday 24th, San Giovanni, will also obviously be the day with the greatest number of initiatives. From 9am to 9.30pm in Corso Moncalieri there will be beach volleyball tournament created specifically for the patronal feast. From 9.30 to 20 in various areas of the city there will be a review of bell concerts. Always at the same starting time but closing at 1pm in Piazza Solferino there will be a moment dedicated to the 160 years of the Italian Red Cross.

Singular and curious is the possibility, at 10am, of going to the Sassi station – the starting point for Superga – to get on the historic tram 502dating back to 1924. The solemn mass is scheduled for 10.30 am at the Cathedral, presided over by Monsignor Repole.

The title of will be awarded at 12.15pm «Ambassador in the world of the excellence of the Turin area». From 4.30pm at the Casa del Teatro there will be an initiative dedicated to cycling and linked to the future, with the arrival of the Tour de France next Monday, 1 July. And then we will get to the grand finale with the parades of musical bands and the historic car tour with GiandujaGiacometta and the Giacomettes who will cross the streets of the center starting from Valentino.

All waiting for 10.30pm, when it will go off the traditional fireworks display in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. The last act.
