Cas di Montalbuccio. Notice for management. In the former school 24 places. But the arrivals continue

A breath of fresh air in the reception of asylum seekers, who continue to arrive in Siena to obtain their residence permit. The Prefecture of Siena (in the photo the prefect Matilde Pirrera) has published on the institutional website the public notice for the assignment of the management service of a first reception center to host foreigners seeking international protection. The act provides that in the former school of Montalbuccio, property of the Municipality, the assignment of the service has a duration of twelve months from the date of signing of the relevant procurement contract for a maximum capacity of 24 places. The deadline for submitting expressions of interest has been set for Friday 28 June (2pm). Those who participate in the tender will be contacted by the Prefecture to carry out a preventive inspection of the property and its appurtenances.

“Given the extremely urgent situation – we read in the public notice – connected to the need to ensure adequate reception for non-EU citizens present or arriving in the provincial territory”, the Prefecture reserves “the right to evaluate the proposals received even before the deadline for publication of this notice, for the purposes of direct assignment”. And again: “Taking into account the need for reception places and the expected capacity of 24 places – continues the document – the estimated total amount of the contract is estimated at 361,262 euros excluding VAT”.

The publication of the notice comes after the controversy of the past weeks relating to the extended timescales for the activation of the CAS. All this, in light of migratory flows that continue to affect the city and its territory. The director of Caritas of Siena, Don Vittorio Giglio, comments positively on the publication of the notice for the assignment of the management of the reception centre: “We are happy, we were waiting for this moment. The emergency of asylum seekers is in fact still ongoing, now we will have to see when the Cas di Montalbuccio will actually leave”. Then the announcement: “From today the new public bathrooms will be in operation, thanks to the collaboration with the municipal administration – adds Don Vittorio – furthermore in San Girolamo there will be an extra day for showering. Our objective is to avoid the inconvenience to the city as much as possible”.
