The national exhibition “Teatro a Corte – Premio Giovanni Macchia” continues with great enthusiasm and success at the Palazzo delle Arti Beltrani in Trani, now in its fourth edition. Under the artistic direction of Enzo Matichecchia and Lella Mastrapasqua, the event is organized in collaboration with the APS Theater Company of Bisceglie-Trani and the Italian Free Theater Union.

Show on Saturday 22 June: “The Chinese Cabinet” is a brilliant comedy written by Aldo De Benedetti and staged by the theater group Il Focolare di Loreto (AN), directed by Rita Papa. The plot follows the events of two elegant upper-class ladies town, who are also friends. Both discover that, unbeknownst to each other, they have had a compromising relationship with the same handsome playboy. This seducer, forced to flee due to financial misadventures, hid all the love letters exchanged with his lovers in a Chinese cabinet, a cabinet full of hiding places and secret drawers. The two women, teamed up out of necessity, manage to obtain the precious locker in an attempt to recover and destroy the evidence of their betrayal. But the cabinet attracts the attention of their husbands, who discover the letters and read their contents. The story unfolds in a crescendo of comic situations and tensions, leaving the audience in suspense: will female cunning or male jealousy win?

  • Saturday 29 June: “I ri…Promessi Sposi” by Enzo Matichecchia, presented by the Compagnia dei Teatranti. The out-of-competition show reinterprets the famous novel by Alessandro Manzoni with irony and lightness.
  • Saturday 6 July: “Non ti pago”, a great classic by Eduardo De Filippo, staged by La Bottega dei Teatranti. The comedy, full of paradoxical situations and humor, explores universal themes such as luck and destiny.
  • Saturday 13 July: “Amici fragili” by Federico Buffa, performed by the theater company I sognAttori. The show will reflect on human frailties and the dynamics of friendship.
  • Saturday 20 July: The event ends with “Voglia di Borotalco” by the company L’Allegra Compagnia di Turi. The show promises to end the season on a light and fun note.
