MASSA – “Here we go again: the closure of Via Alta Tambura to traffic is another demonstration of how this administration deals with any issue that concerns the city. The vision of the territory continues to be fragmented and obviously the solutions create collateral damage. In this case to the mountains of Massa”. Speaking is Luana Mencarelli, provincial coordinator of the M5s, who gets to the heart of the road ban, a decision taken by the administration and aimed at avoiding the wild parking of the many who reach the Renara Valley in the summer months, but poorly digested by many citizens.
“It is useless to entrust tourism marketing to specialized companies, talk about deseasonalisation, valorisation of the territory and so on if you do not have an overall vision and solutions because everything is ineffective – criticizes the political exponent – The problem of the mountains starts from valley with a chronic parking problem in all the towns from Canevara to Forno, from Casette to Guadine, up to the Renara Valley and yet where are the projects or proposals to attack this critical issue? Without adequate solutions we certainly cannot talk about revitalizing these hamlets, leaving them abandoned with all the related consequences.”

Mencarelli continues and explains: “The “short-sighted” ordinance aims to prevent the usual summer problems in that stretch of the mountain, linked to the wild traffic on the Via Alta Tambura which reaches the pools of the Renara stream, even hindering the intervention of emergency vehicles. This measure will perhaps solve the problem, but it also limits access to the area for visitors, access to paths, hinders valorisation, mountain development and the free use of the river, which is good for everyone, thus economically damaging the activities who operate there during the summer, and “fence” the residents who are even forced to declare who visits them, violating their privacy. It is certainly not a good start and we will pay for it in terms of care, maintenance and potential investments. Absurdly – claims Luana Mencarelli – people complain that river users “pollute” with their “corporeal” waste, but nothing has yet been done to provide sewerage systems to the towns of Guadine, Gronda and Redicesi”.

“Then there is the delicate condition of our mountain slopes with recurring landslides – the provincial coordinator adds – but we read of non-essential interventions from the center to the Marina, which have created, among other things, a lot of citizen dissent, but nothing that can be traced back to the relaunch of our mountain areas. Yet – concludes the M5s – the Persian administrations have had resources available and filled the drawers with funds like never before. They could have listened to the frequent requests: the proposals have been put forward and many could arrive, it would be enough to have the ability to ground them, to give priorities with less egocentrism and a global vision that has not been seen in 6 years and to avoid spot interventions, perhaps in an emergency.”
