Millions pro Africa, Conticini brothers acquitted in Florence

FLORENCE, JUNE 19 – The court of Florence has acquitted the three Conticini brothers, Alessandro, Luca and Andrea, the latter being Matteo Renzi’s brother-in-law, who ended up on trial in an investigation into an alleged theft of 6.6 million dollars intended for Childcare in Africa. The alleged crimes: embezzlement and self-laundering for Alessandro and Luca Conticini, and money laundering for Andrea Conticini. At the center of the investigation were donations from the Pulitzer Foundation through Operation USA, Unicef and other international humanitarian organizations. The investigations began in 2016. The trial will begin in June 2021. At the hearing on 25 October, prosecutor Luca Turco had asked for acquittal for the crimes of embezzlement, money laundering and self-laundering because the fact does not exist and there was no need to proceed with the money disbursed by Unicef due to the statute of limitations for the crime of embezzlement. “After 8 years of media massacre, eight years, my brother-in-law, Andrea Conticini was today acquitted of the defamatory accusations for which talk, media and political parties have attacked me since the 2016 referendum campaign. The basic thesis is that Andrea had participated to a great scam against African children and Unicef. Absurd! If it weren’t for the fact that for eight years the Grillini, Di Battista, Meloni (when she was still a justice activist), Il Fatto Quotidiano and many others attacked Andrea in the media. , Matilde, their children. And obviously all of us. Today the Court of Florence stated with a ruling that the fact does not exist”, wrote Renzi on X. (ANSA).
