This is what we read in the specific bulletin prepared by the SSR Lazio Region epidemiology department, as part of the national operating system for forecasting and preventing the effects of heat, coordinated by the Ministry of Health.
Dust from the Sahara and the yellow sky
As reported by the Lamma consortium, the incoming very hot air masses are of desert origin and bring Saharan dust, giving rise to the “yellow sky” phenomenon. The episode expected in these days «will be very intense», «Thursday the 20th could be the day of maximum intensity, both at altitude and on the ground. Starting from the 21st the values tend to decrease, although they still remain quite high”. Dust, Lamma always explains, “contributes to the increase in PM10 concentrations in the area”.
Temperatures in Florence
On June 19th code yellow, the maximum perceived temperature of 35°, Thursday 20th June of 38° and Friday of 35°.
On Tuesday 18 June the maximum peak, the Municipality informs, was reached at Florence-Orto Botanico survey station: at 3 pm (solar time) they touched 35.6°.
At 10.30am on Wednesday 19 June, again at the same station, 30.6° were recorded.
