REGGIO EMILIA – Vertical road signs removed with the hose. They seem to be the signs of the passage of Fleximan. This time, however, the serial speed camera saboteur has nothing to do with it. The cutting of the poles is due to the operation with which the Cessna 208 which had to make an emergency landing last Saturday evening due to engine failure.
From the point where it abruptly returned to the ground, in Villa Curta in a field adjacent to a vineyard, the aircraft was pushed to the road, in via Pinotti, from where it was then towed, along the same street, and then along via Montagnani Marelli. The Stop sign near the dairy was among the first to have to be sacrificed, to allow the passage of the plane, whose wingspan is 16 metres. The maneuvers were coordinated by local police officers, who intervened to manage traffic, which was temporarily blocked to allow the journey to proceed. Among the poles left on the ground, the one indicating the name of the stream and that of the street, including the parabolic mirror. All will be restored in the next few hours. Nothing can be done, however, for the acacia that had spontaneously grown at the beginning of the bridge over the Rhone and which was cut.
Owned by BFU, or Body Fly University, the sports parachuting school that organizes courses and tandem jumps, the Cessna managed to reach, after a journey of about half a kilometre, the hangar of the parachuting company within which will be repaired. Members and volunteers of the BFU and also two mechanics who came from France with the task of rebuilding the engine collaborated in the work to bring it back to base.
