Another victory for the former carabiniere, now private investigator, Nicola Santimone in the review process relating to his conviction for the crimes of corruption and access to the IT system of the police force. According to the prosecution, he paid the former inspector Bonadio to obtain information. In the first instance he had chosen the abbreviated procedure, being sentenced to four years and three months, on appeal the sentence was reduced to two years and six months, confirmed by the Court of Cassation and already served.

The Court of Appeal of Brescia instead acquitted him of a charge for which he had been convicted, canceling three months of his sentence. «However, he made a mistake in the calculation of the sentences subjected to review – explains the lawyer Andrea Conz –, so we expect a further reduction». Which will have to come from a new judgment from the Court of Appeal to which the Cassation sent the file back. To get to the review Santimone has already had to appeal twice to the Court of Cassation, the first on jurisdiction, the second for an error on the admissibility of the evidence produced. He was therefore acquitted on corruption but the conviction for the undue access remains, for which the error in the calculation of the sentence would have occurred. Santimone and his lawyer have already announced a new appeal also on the remaining part of the accusations.
