Festival alt(r)i Ascolti brings music to the village of Chamois

Music, like nature, knows no rules and boundaries. This is confirmed by the 2024 edition of the alt(r)i Ascolti Festival, which will cross borders, bring together different musical cultures, enchant the public with notes and silences, walks in the countryside and moments of reflection on Nature and its treasures. The appointment is from 9 to 11 August in Chamois, an enchanting village located at 1,815 meters above sea level, in Valtournenche – Valle d’Aosta – reachable only on foot or by cable car from Buisson, a hamlet of Antey St. Andrè. Now in its 4th edition, the alt(r)i Ascolti Festival was conceived and organized by the Insieme a Chamois Association and avails itself of the artistic direction of Luciana Galliano.

The three-day program will be, as per tradition, rich and varied to give voice to the creativity of very different artists, but united by a common love for music and the mountains. The four scheduled concerts will see the Argentine trio Caminantes take to the natural stage of Chamois (Friday 9th) with a repertoire of songs from traditional Argentine and South American folklore, the Trio Colibrì (Saturday 10th) in a show that ranges from jazz to musical language contemporary, the Duo Fields and Stoye (Sunday 11 August), two true “musicians from Bremen” with their fascinating and baroque viola da gamba and the Pitularita (Sunday 11) the duo of brothers from Aosta Valley Rémy and Vincent Boniface who “will play in home” bringing the traditional Alpine music of the Aosta Valley and neighboring territories.

The majestic Alps around Chamois will act as the setting, choreography and sounding board, a breathtaking spectacle that will make emotions vibrate and give the public a musical experience in its highest form: without artificial amplifications and in direct contact with Nature.

But alt(r)i Ascolti won’t just be music. It will also be theatre, with the show of the Cow Dancers (Sunday 11th), an “alpine” version of the love triangle, accompanied by oboe, bass clarinet, double bass and accordion. It will be in-depth analysis and reflection through meetings with the mountain journalist and mountaineer Giorgio Camanni (Friday 9th) who will present his book “The sacred mountain” and with the CNR Agroforestry expert Pierluigi Paris (Saturday 10th). And it will also be an outdoor activity with the walk guided by environmental experts (Saturday 10th) to discover the secrets, scents, colors and emotions of the high mountains around Chamois.

All this can only happen in the magic of Chamois, the first car-free municipality in Italy, already awarded the title of “Pearl of the Alps”, a role that the association Insieme a Chamois contributes to protecting with initiatives that contribute to the sustainable development of small village. www.insiemeachamois.it
