Lamezia, disinfestation service and prevention campaign against mosquitoes begins in the city: the dates of the interventions

Lamezia Terme – The summer program of the larvicidal and adulticidal disinfestation service is underway. Furthermore, the municipality has also included in its communication to citizens the good rules to follow to limit the spread of mosquitoes. In particular, adulticidal disinfestation interventions will take place at night. “Any changes to the calendar will be promptly communicated to citizens,” they inform.

We start with a first adulticidal nocturnal intervention on June 24th at 10pm; anti-larval daytime intervention on 20 and 21 June from 7 am and in July on the days (8-9 and 22-23) in August (5-6 and 26-27). Adulticidal night intervention on June 24; July 24; August 13; September 25th from 10pm.

Good rules to follow

“Do not abandon objects and containers of any nature and size where rainwater can collect, including tyres, used tyres, bottles, saucers and similar placed in the courtyards and terraces of homes; in the case of objects located on private property, proceed with their careful cleaning and hermetic closure with waterproof sheets or lids in order to avoid accumulations of stagnant water following rain. Empty, at least every 5 days, commonly used containers such as buckets, animal water bowls, saucers, watering cans. Dispose of used tires and waste containers such as jars, cans, etc. so that water does not accumulate and the formation of stagnation is avoided. Carefully cover all immovable containers such as tanks, tanks for watering gardens and vegetable patches with mosquito nets or sheets. In the case of ornamental fountains or artificial lakes, foresee the possibility of introducing fish that feed on mosquito larvae (such as goldfish, gambusia etc.). Periodically treat the water in manholes and drains present in gardens and courtyards in private areas with specific larvicidal products (generally available in farms and pharmacies) or using authorized disinfestation companies. Keep courtyards and open areas clear of weeds, brushwood and waste of all kinds and dry up stagnant water in every place which causes unhealthiness”.
