Results of the 3rd Stage 2024 – 25th Photo Comparisons – Bibbiena (Arezzo)

Results of «25th Photo Comparisons» third of the ten Selections adhering to the «21st Portfolio Italia 2024 – Fowa Grand Prix»

The “25th Photo Comparisons», organized within the «1st Italian Photography Festival», was held in Bibbiena (Arezzo), in Piazza Tarlati, on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June 2024. The meetings were attended by 63 Authors with 78 Works. They have been carried out 198 Readings.
At the end of the two days the Selection Commission, composed of Messrs. Massimo Agus, Leonello Bertolucci, Silvano Bicocchi, Alessandra Capodacqua, Lorenzo Cicconi Massi, Massimo Mazzoli, Fulvio Merlak (President of the Jury) and Bärbel Reinhard (Mariateresa Cerretelli, Simone Donati, Benedetta Donato , Michela Fabbrocino, Cosmo Laera, Sara Munari and Stefano Schirato acted only as Readers), decided to assign the awards as follows:

1st Prize to “Identity” Of Lordly Hermes of Ceglie del Campo – Bari (Portfolio consisting of 15 Black & White and Color Images taken in 2024) with the following motivation: «The work struck the Jury for its direct language, without anesthesia, which forces attention to a completely ordinary experience. A journey in search of an awareness that opens the gaze to new references with which to feel free to compare.»

2nd Prize to “Yes, we do” Of Elisa MARIOTTI of Bibbiena (AR) (Portfolio composed of 15 color triptychs created between 2021 and 2024) with the following motivation: «But it’s a man’s job! This exclamation, heard many times, already speaks of a prejudice. The Author, with long, methodical, programmatic work, has portrayed, with skill and closeness, a certain number of women with professions considered “for men”. She then completed, almost garnished, the series with photos that contextualize the work environment and some revealing details. The proud, aware and passionate looks of these women emerge and show us how much the facts can signal some prejudice, including the “gender gap”.
