Before the coach, there was the footballer. Paul Vanoli he played in a deep and mostly defensive position. In fact, we have seen him at work as a lateral defender, i.e. as a left back and more rarely as a left winger in midfield. The player still liked the sideline. He played his career as a player between the nineties and the first decade of the 2000s, from Corsico to Sandrà with experiences in Scotland and Greece. However, his name is linked to a club above all others: Parma. In Serie A he made 135 appearances, in the UEFA Cup 20 and with the Emilians he won the historic UEFA Cup in 1998/1999. His personal career as a footballer also includes two Italian Cups (1999 with Parma, 2001 Fiorentina) and an Italian Super Cup with Parma at the beginning of the 1999/2000 season.
