Marina Abramovic’s show, ‘the Life’ at the Pescheria di Pesaro until 23 June, aroused enthusiasm. She is the 77-year-old Serbian world art celebrity, protagonist at Villa Imperiale in Pesaro of a meeting with the press for Pesaro, the Italian capital of culture. She revealed that she experienced success “let’s say late, around the age of 60 – so I know how to handle it and I don’t care”. She added that she prefers it to have happened this way because “if she had hit me when I was young I probably would have overdosed, but in the 70s I did some terrible things that were panned by critics. I therefore say to young artists: don’t be afraid of anything or anyone, experiment without being influenced by others.” Marina Abramovic insisted a lot on the concept of an artist “either you are or you are not” but to be one you have to “go crazy for your ideas as if while waiting to realize them you were running out of air. But to achieve them means 90 percent sacrifice and the rest is talent.” Marina ruled out that art passes through Tik Tok or Instagram but Abramovic is certain that every century a couple of geniuses, the so-called “wow-artists”, can be born.
