The 11-year-old girl who risked drowning on Monday morning at the Aquaneva water park in Inzago, in the province of Milan, is not out of danger yet: she was on a trip with children and educators from the Cre of the oratory of San Luigi di Caravaggio, in the Bergamo area, not far from the Brescia borders. The girl, of Senegalese origins, apparently went into the pool alone and, after a few minutes, she was found lifeless under water. All hypotheses are possible: she might have felt ill due to the temperature change due to the first real heat of these days, or she might have hit her head after a dive, or she might not have been able to swim in a point where the water was highest. Unfortunately no one witnessed the scene in real time.
The little girl was found in cardiac arrest and transported in desperate conditions to the emergency room of the Papa Giovanni hospital in Bergamo: here she arrived in code red, urgently transferred by helicopter. She is currently hospitalized in intensive care and, as mentioned, in the evening she had not yet been declared out of danger.
The community is rooting for her
The emergency call came in just before 11am on Monday. The first person to see the unconscious girl was the park lifeguard, who recovered her and performed the first resuscitation maneuvers on her. The officers of the Local Police of Inzago are investigating what happened with the support of the Carabinieri. The children of the oratory who witnessed the scene were in shock. The entire Caravaggio community is rooting for the hospitalized eleven-year-old: solidarity and support even from outside the country. “We are close, like Grest of Calvenzano – we read on Facebook – with our hearts and prayers to the 11 year old girl who was drowning in the pool and is now in very serious conditions. A warm hug to the family but also to the organizers, who are certainly devastated.”
