Monticiano is among the Tuscan municipalities in the ‘Residentiality in the mountains 2024’ tender promoted by the Region which assigned contributions. Based on requirements, the Region provides funds to those who purchase residential properties in the mountain municipalities of Tuscany that have fewer than 5 thousand inhabitants. The funds come directly from the National Fund for the Development of Italian Mountains (Fosmit) and have the aim of encouraging the repopulation and social and economic revitalization of depopulated areas. Among the objectives there is also that of carrying forward a battle against the marginalization of these areas.
Italian citizens or citizens of other European Union states, adults and resident in non-mountain municipalities in Italy, can apply as long as they become owners of an existing property intended for residential use after the publication of the decree approving the tender on the Burt. According to the provisions, the minimum amount that can be requested is 10 thousand euros, while the maximum amount is 30 thousand euros. The contribution cannot exceed 50% of the total expenses incurred for the purchase of the property and related appurtenances. Applications must be submitted via the online form available on the Tuscany region website, starting from 13 June and until 1pm on 27 July 2024.
