Umbria is also among the 12 Italian regions with high water stress. Rising temperatures and the effects of human action are the causes. Umbria is among the six regions with a drought risk of between 30 and 50% of its regional territory, together with Sardinia, Marche, Emilia Romagna, Abruzzo and Campania. Worrying conditions are particularly reported for Lake Trasimeno “which has been constantly decreasing for over a year. Umbria also suffers from the scarcity of rainfall: in the month of May it was more than 25% lower than the average. Among the central regions , the best condition is that of Tuscany. Here, however, the flows of the Arno, Ombrone and Serchio rivers have fallen below average”.
