ROSE GARDEN. «We will appeal to the Council of State against the TAR’s ruling on the 2023 Tari tariffs, which ruled in favor of the beachgoers and tourist operators». The mayor announced it Mario Nugnes, specifying however that the sentence does not deal with the merits of the PEF (Economic Financial Plan) of the waste tax as stated by the opposition, but only with the reasons for its revision. «It’s not saying that the PEF couldn’t have been redone, but that it wasn’t well motivated», he explains, «that’s why we will present the appeal, we are convinced that we have well motivated it». Nugnes also highlights an average increase in tariffs for 2024 of 2.59%, specifying that it is in line with national increases, in an upcoming city council meeting at the end of June. «All municipalities will increase according to the law», he observes, «in fact, the expected increases vary from 2.59 to 9% and we have chosen the minimum increase. I remember, however, the increases foreseen by the Di Girolamo-Ginoble administration, very substantial ones. In 2017, increases in the TARI amounted to up to 60%, with protests from various categories.” Furthermore, yesterday morning a question was also registered, signed by the opposition councillors Teresa Ginoble, Nicola Petrini And Francesco Di Giuseppe, regarding the tax. «What will the TARI change for citizens», we read in the question, «given the TAR’s ruling? How does the Municipality now intend to recover the 900 thousand euros, unduly taken from those who took part in the autonomous collection?”.
The opposition councilors would like answers and clarifications from the administration on the effects of the TAR ruling, but Nugnes invites them to present a motion rather than a question. “Yes, I saw the question”, highlights the mayor, “but in my opinion a motion is better, so that there is a debate in the chamber among everyone and the sentence can be clarified”. In the meantime, a municipal council has been convened for Friday 21 June, scheduled to begin at 9am, in which the old municipal regulation will be brought into discussion after the ruling of the administrative court which rejected the new document, effectively giving opposition councilors Ginoble and Di Giuseppe were right.
