Verona Pride, Padovani attacks: “Unedifying scenes. Mayor distance himself” | TgVerona

Verona Pride has passed but not the wave of considerations and controversies. The Honorable Marco Padovani, deputy of Fratelli D’Italia, intervened on the matter:

“Last Sunday, during Verona Pride, Giovanni Zardini, the president of Circolo Pink, an association based in the Municipality of Verona, was photographed in an unseemly and half-naked attitude. This behavior raises serious questions about the respect that this administration has towards all citizens of Verona, including those who did not participate in the demonstration.

What happened is unacceptable. President Zardini behaved in a manner that was not respectful of public decorum, also given the presence of numerous minors accompanied by their parents, who were not participating in the aforementioned procession.

I turn to Mayor Tommasi: “Are you aware that the president of an association, to which the Municipality granted a headquarters a few months ago, behaves in this way during an event sponsored by the Municipality of Verona?”

It is particularly worrying that the Municipality has shown its support for this association by granting it a seat, without perhaps adequately evaluating the conduct of its representatives. After all, it couldn’t be otherwise, given that Zardini himself was one of the main supporters of the future mayor Damiano Tommasi in the electoral campaign.

It would be interesting to know whether the Tommasi administration supports and is in solidarity with such behaviors of those who publicly represent an association that enjoys the full support of the Municipality.

I hope that the Mayor, in light of what has emerged, takes a position on what happened and distances himself from such behaviour”
