The delivery of the green areas included in the largest area owned by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport – OO.PP Supervision which lie on Corso De Tullio, in front of the building, was formalized this morning in Bari, at the headquarters of the Port Authority. which houses the offices of the Superintendency.

The director of the Government and Strategic Development division of the Municipality of Bari, Pompeo Colacicco, took part in the formal transfer of the areas, which will constitute the first part of the future Castle park.

The request for the release of those areas – Palazzo di Città explains in a note – is promoted by the Municipality of Bari and is preparatory to the municipal administration’s desire to create the “Castle Park”, re-proposing the provisions of the Detailed Plan of the Old City to define a green area around the ancient center and the Castello Svevo, combining the existing greenery with the moats of the Castle, the Isabella d’Aragona garden and Piazza Massari.

In this way, the green area, after carrying out some small interventions by the municipal offices, can be returned to public use as part of the implementation of the larger “Castle Park” project to be built in batches.

With a note from a few months ago, after several discussions between the bodies and institutional representatives involved, the Port Authority of Bari communicated the approval of the Interregional Superintendency for Public Works for the return of the state-owned maritime area on which the part of the garden stands pertaining to the offices of the same Supervision, in front of the building, provided that this is preserved by a strip of at least 5 meters from the edge of the driveway to improve internal traffic and allow access to the systems behind the building.

The Municipality, therefore, once the areas have been acquired, undertakes to guarantee the use of the public garden after creating independent access through an opening along Corso De Tullio, building a wall that clearly divides the two portions of the garden and carrying out the necessary interventions maintenance on green areas and systems. In the next few days we will start the authorization process for carrying out the works.
