The Lombardy Region supports the speakers with 500 thousand euros

This year, the ‘Young people on the move’ initiative, the agreement with Lombard oratories to train community leaders, envisages 120 projects and commits resources of 750 thousand euros. Lombardy Region participates with 500 thousand euros. The other 250 thousand are paid by the Lombard Ecclesiastical Region which, through the network of regional oratories, promotes courses for young people who work in the oratories as community animators.

“This project – explained the undersecretary to the Presidency of the Region with responsibility for sport and young people Lara Magoni – aims to encourage the development of oratories within which young people can feel part of a group and a community. In this way, we promote youth protagonism, giving skills and training and, a very important aspect for me, preventing possible situations of hardship. We believe it is essential to accompany and support the need for autonomy and the desire for fulfillment of our young people”.

“This project – he added – is confirmation that through these training experiences solid personal identities are built, capable of developing and promoting inclusion, participation and animation. All these are essential characteristics for living with peers and in one’s own community”.

‘Young people on the move’ envisages, among other things, the implementation of 120 project actions, developed by each individual implementing entity (oratory), which can initiate partnerships, also through the experimentation of co-planning tools. These actions will be activated starting from 1 September 2024 and will end by 31 December 2025. For each one, training, educational, aggregative and sporting activities will be carried out.

“This initiative – underlined Don Stefano Guidi, director of Fom (Foundation of Milanese oratories) and coordinator of OdL (Lombardy diocese oratories) – supports the daily educational activity of the oratories. The projects presented aim, among other things, to work on some important areas. Among these, youth aggregation, sport, inclusion and initial housing independence stand out”.

“The project – concluded Don Guidi – also expresses the concrete contribution that the speakers bring to the development of our society and the well-being of young people”.
