Odg Lombardia, honorary card for Vik Arrigoni – News

The Order of Journalists of Lombardy today awarded the family of Vittorio Arrigoni, the young activist and writer from Besana Brianza (Monza) killed in Gaza in 2011, the Honoris causa journalist card in Milan.

‘Vik’ Arrigoni, always on the front line for the Palestinian people, pacifist and author of numerous war correspondence for the Manifesto, and during the Piombo Fuso operation (2008-2009) also for many national and international newspapers, was killed in Gaza by Islamic extremists in circumstances never fully clarified, at the age of 36. “It seemed right to us to respond positively to the proposal of the Cronisti Lombardi Group – said Riccardo Sorrentino, president of the Lombardy Odg – to recognize a card in memory of Vittorio Arrigoni, who from Gaza, remaining faithful to his principles of humanity which brought him to challenge even those who violently exercised power in the name of that people, made a fundamental contribution to the information on what was happening in those areas. Ours is not a political stance, it is a tribute to those who, however to give that information and to testify to his values, he lost his life.”

The card was received during a short ceremony by his mother, Egidia Beretta, his sister Alessandra Arrigoni and his partner, Maria Elena Delia. Arrigoni was registered honoris causa among the Lombardi Chroniclers in 2022.
