“A Festival of the Central Squares to enhance the spaces of the historic center. An event spread over seven days, in seven different squares, with seven different themes, attributable to the history and peculiarities of our city: Piazza del Comune: history, institutions, faith; piazza Roma: free time and family; Largo Boccaccio: art and performance; Piazza Stradivari: trade and relations, Piazza Filodrammatici: culture; Piazza della Pace: entertainment and Piazza Marconi: violin making and music. We will do this by creating real itineraries that enhance the historic center. Given this, we will improve the decoration by working on urban greenery, public lighting, flooring and equipment”. Alessandro Portesani stated this today illustrating another fundamental point of the chapter on the decoration of the historic center proposed by the centre-right coalition.
“Cremona is equipped with a natural system of open public spaces which constitute a natural and ideal context for hosting citizens in their relationships,” continues Portesani. “Unfortunately, these symbolic places have been lying in a state of evident degradation and neglect for too long because the Virgilio/Galimberti Council, despite complaining against the Government, has not invested a single euro in the historic centre. We have already prepared a series of ad hoc interventions to complete its redevelopment. The entity we think of to manage the implementation of this project could be the Aem of Cremona”.
“We, as the centre-right, believe, says Portesani, that the public administration must invest in these spaces and above all connect them, also encouraging private interventions that enhance the urban landscape”. “The technical analyzes will then be the basis of the international competition of ideas, open to architects, designers and artists, for the characterization and revitalization of the historic centre. We are convinced that to achieve these objectives it is not necessary to deploy inaccessible resources, but that they can be configured as extraordinary targeted maintenance. Through this initiative we aim to encourage tourism to remain in the city for a longer time compared to what happens today”, concludes the centre-right candidate.
