The Ave Ninchi International Festival expands and doubles. Now in its nineteenth edition, the event, named after the actress who decided to end her career and live in Trieste, and dedicated to theater in the dialect of the Triveneto and Istria regions, will experience a new phase in 2024: hosted for 19 years by the municipality of Duino Aurisina, this year’s edition will see part of the shows set up in the garden of the Sartorio museum in Trieste.
The program was presented today in Trieste in the presence of the leaders of Armonia, the Association of Trieste theater companies, and, among others, of the Deputy Mayor Serena Tonel, who underlined how “the expansion of the event to the territory is a positive, to involve new audiences, and bring dialect theater closer to the center of Trieste”. City councilor Manuela Declich also recalled how dialect is “a form of expression that unites and unites”.
The program includes eight shows, all with free admission, starting from June 22nd until August 4th, the first four in the traditional venue of Borgo San Mauro (the musical show “Triestinamente”, and the comedies “Xente de piasa picia”, “ ‘Sssai frotole ma gnenete fritole” and “Chi no’ ga bori… ghe toica fa’l pal”) and the same number in the setting of the Sartorio museum, included in the Trieste Summer 2024 program (“El destin xe ne la man… !”, “What a Scandal!”, “That little field”, and “Mama mia… what pupoli”). There is also a queue in Gorizia in autumn.

Among the projects there is also that of creating a national Ave Ninchi festival, the “festival of festivals”, right in Trieste, with all the best traditions of dialect theater in Italy.
On this occasion, Armonia, which is approaching its fortieth season, also announced the decision to transfer its shows to the Basaglia theatre, within the San Giovanni district of Trieste, leaving the theater in via Ananian due to said the president of Armonia, Paolo Dalfovo, “of the reckless increases by the parish of San Vincenzo de Paoli, owner of the theater in via Ananian, which did not allow the theater to be kept available for everyone, without increasing the tickets”. Even the artistic director, Riccardo Fortuna, underlined how Armonia is an organization of volunteers, who make theater out of passion, for free”, and how “any increases would only go to the theater owners”.
