Only the data of the mayoral candidates have been disclosed by the Municipality
Better late than never. Eight days after the counting, the Municipality of Gela announced the definitive data, barring appeals, of the five mayoral candidates. Grazia Cosentino closes with 11,353 preferences, followed by Terenziano Di Stefano with 10,208 votes, 8,167 votes for Salvatore Scerra, 2925 for Filippo Franzone and 2,682 for Miguel Donegani. The official announcement comes from Palazzo di Città in an anomalous context given that, more than a week after the vote, there is still no certainty about the data of the city councillors.
At Palazzo di Città the work of the Central Office continues. In the council group room, the minutes of the 71 sections are sifted through. On Friday the scrutineers, together with the magistrate appointed by the Court, completed the operations of the individual lists. Yesterday afternoon, at 3.30pm, checks began on the 407 candidates, starting with those of Fratelli d’Italia, the only completed list. The final data will be released overall once the checks have been completed. At this point it could take days, even if the commission will meet on Thursday and Friday starting in the morning.
Meanwhile, among the anomalies that have affected this electoral round there is also the mystery of the changed sections. Hundreds of citizens showed up in their section with their voter card in hand only to discover that they had actually been assigned another one. According to the story of some scrutineers, many did not go to Palazzo di Città, but, feeling nervous, they would have returned home without voting. The high percentage of abstentionism recorded in the administrative elections could also be linked to this. In view of the ballot, will the electoral office have communicated the new sections to the citizens affected by the change?
