Administrative irregularities and serious hygienic-sanitary deficiencies emerged during a new extraordinary inspection coordinated by the Acireale public security police station and carried out together with the Eastern Sicily Crime Prevention Department of Catania, the administrative police staff of the Catania Police Headquarters, the company staff Provincial Health Office of the Municipal Police, between Acireale and Aci Castello.
The offending kiosk
In particular, several violations were found in a kiosk in the station area, including the occupation of public land without permission, the concealment of the license plate of the vehicle used to exercise, as well as precarious hygienic-sanitary conditions. Chairs and tables were seized and the owner of the kiosk was fined 5 thousand euros.
The checks were then concentrated in another commercial establishment in the centre, already subject to investigations by the police officers, called to intervene following repeated complaints from citizens about loud music outside the permitted hours. In this case, the ASP staff found a discrepancy relating to the use of a room intended as a changing room and, instead, used as a warehouse, for which the owner was charged with the infringement with a fine of one thousand euros. From further checks carried out, the regularity of the public land granted was found as well as the Siae obligations and the related presentation of the Scia for small musical entertainment whose possession is currently being verified.
The other controls
The police checked the patrons of other premises, verifying in one case the simultaneous presence of numerous criminals, a circumstance which will be examined for the purposes of applying the art. 100 of the Consolidated Law on Public Security which allows the Police Commissioner to temporarily close a public establishment, a usual meeting place for people with criminal convictions, to guarantee order and the safety of citizens.
Several checkpoints have been set up in Santa Maria degli Ammalati and in several points in the Acizza area where numerous infringements of the Highway Code have been detected. Overall, 184 people and 77 vehicles were checked and 9 fines were issued for 2,817 euros. Specifically, 5 people were sanctioned for failure to carry out periodic inspections with consequent suspension of the vehicle from circulation, 2 for failure to show documents at the check, 2 for using a mobile phone while driving the vehicle.
