Olbia. The Municipality of Olbia has issued a new ordinance (n. 18 of 18/06/2024) which changes the direction of traffic in Via Antonio Labriolain the stretch between the intersection with Via GB Cella and the intersection with Via C. Beccaria.
This decision was made in response to reports from residents and with the aim of improving traffic and reducing environmental impact. The ordinance, signed by the Director of the Technical Sector, Eng. Diego Ciceri, followed a careful analysis of the road situation in the ‘Pedra Niedda’ district.
The amendment includes the following provisions:
Two-way traffic in Via A. Labriola
It will be established in the stretch between the intersection with Via GB Cella and the intersection with Via C. Beccaria. This change responds to complaints from residents who, with the current configuration, are forced to travel hundreds of additional meters, causing greater emissions and inconvenience.
Confirmation of one-way traffic: it will remain in force in the stretch of Via A. Labriola between the intersection with Via della Stampa and the intersection with Via GB Cella.
Confirmation of two-way traffic: it will be maintained in the stretch of Via A. Labriola between the intersection with Via C. Beccaria and the end of the road.
The decision to change the direction of circulation was taken for several reasons: reduction of environmental impact, the additional routes required for residents increased CO2 emissions. With two-way traffic, the aim is to reduce traffic and emissions.
Citizens’ reports were crucial in highlighting the problems of the current road structure. In particular, those who live in Via Beccaria have pointed out the difficulties in reaching Viale Aldo Moro without having to make long trips. The ordinance requires the ASPO (Olbia Public Services Company) to update the horizontal and vertical road signs, in compliance with the current Highway Code.
The new signs will be installed immediately to ensure safety and traffic flow.
