Radis, the CRT Foundation’s art in public space project starts from Cuneo and Rittana

The Radis public program starts on Friday 28 June, the new art project in public space promoted and conceived by the CRT Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art with the aim of enriching the Piedmontese territory with a heritage of public art works for the community, with educational programs, public meetings and exhibition projects that return part of the collection of the Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art CRT to the community.

A format which in its first edition is created in collaboration with the CRC Foundation and which starts from Valle Stura, between the Municipality of Rittana and the Borgata Paraloup, and precisely at Chiot Rosa, a clearing dotted with birch trees at 1,200 meters above sea level of the sea. A place rich in history and with a high symbolic value, near the first Cuneo headquarters of the Justice and Freedom partisan bands, an area full of suggestions in which Giulia Cenci, the artist selected for the first edition of Radis by the curator Marta Papini for her interest in places on the border between nature and anthropization and her research focused on the relationships between human beings, animals and the natural environment.

The summer meetings of the public program will bring the public closer to Giulia Cenci’s artistic practice and the unveiling of her work, scheduled for 5 October 2024.

Pane del bosco will take place on Friday 28 June at 6.00 pm at the Rondò dei Talenti (Cuneo), a conversation between Marta Papini and Giulia Cenci which is inspired by the collection of poems of the same name by Chandra Candiani, born from the poet’s abandonment of Milan and from moving to a house on a Piedmontese mountain pasture in the middle of a forest.

The inauguration open to the public of the collective exhibition L’opera al nero will be held on Sunday 14 July at 11.00 at the Civic and Cultural Center of Rittana, which will host works from the collections of the CRT Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art and the CRC Foundation, curated by Marta Papini and Leonardo Pietropaolo, with the artist Giulia Cenci. The inauguration will be accompanied at 4.30 pm by the show LIVES! The life of Louise Bourgeois in words and music, with Nicolas Ballario and Rodrigo D’Erasmo.

Supercondominio6 – Paradis will be held on the weekend of Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September: a meeting organized by Treti Galaxie between independent European contemporary art production and promotion projects in the Radis territories, with the aim of activating a dialogue between spaces and artists, to encourage reflections and synergies, through moments of sharing with the public. The activities will take place in Rittana and will extend to the surrounding areas through walks, meetings and outdoor lunches.

From 4 to 7 September, Radis will arrive at Panorama Monferrato, the widespread exhibition created by the Italics gallery network which this year will involve four towns in Monferrato. In Vignale Monferrato, in the province of Alessandria, the curator Marta Papini will present the project.

On Saturday 14 September and Sunday 15 September, in collaboration with the Nuto Revelli Foundation, the two-day Landscapes in the ecological crisis between memory, ecology and action will be held. Ecomememory and sustainable future projects: a program which, starting from the concept of “ecomememory”, reconstructs the historical and current relationship between human beings and the environment, from the point of view of the plants and animals that coexist with us. Among the events, the theater show We did it! will be performed on Saturday at 2.15 pm in the Borgata Paraloup (Rittana). curated by the Ateliersi collective which, playing on the contrast between reality and fiction, tells of a world in which some of the crises that today compromise the possibility of life on Earth have been overcome. On Sunday 15 September, again in the Borgata Paraloup, two meetings will be held that investigate the perspective of the wolf and the perspective of plants, respectively at 3.00 pm with the zoologist Mia Canestrini and the radio host Matteo Caccia, and at 4.30 pm with the writer Alessandra Viola .

On Saturday 21 September at 3.00 pm at the Rondò dei Talenti in Cuneo the mapping of art in the public space of the province of Cuneo will be presented, curated by Vittoria Martini in conversation with Francesca Comisso. Following, at 4.30 pm, the photographer Paola Agosti will talk about the women of the strong ring and the world of the vanquished.

To conclude the public program cycle, on Saturday 5 October at 3.00 pm at Chiot Rosa (Rittana), there will be the inauguration of Giulia Cenci’s public work, which the CRT Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art will give on permanent loan to the Municipality of Rittana. For the occasion, a visit to the exhibition L’opera al nero will be organised. For information: www.radis-crt.it

The CRT Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art, an “art oriented” body of the CRT Foundation and mainly active on the regional and local territory, has for some time now had a significant and dynamic presence on a national and international level: there are more and more projects beyond the borders of the city of Turin and Piedmont, according to a precise will of the Foundation which, through some important international events, intends to promote Turin culture in Europe and around the world.
