From 28th to 30th June The Italian Grand Prix – World Championship F2, a powerboat event held in Brindisi, will see the participation of drivers from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Great Britain, Slovakia and many other countries . Organized by the Circolo Nautico Porta d’Oriente in collaboration with FIM and UIM and with the Port Authority of Brindisi for logistics and safety management, the event is part of the Adriatic Cup, representing a significant opportunity for territorial promotion.
Now in its 11th edition, the Powerboating Championship is not only a sporting competition but also an opportunity for Brindisi to highlight its history, culture, gastronomy and a unique marine infrastructure in the world, as underlined by the president of the National Federation Powerboating, Vincenzo Iaconianni. The support of the Puglia Region, Department of Tourism, Development and Tourist Enterprise, PugliaPromozione, Municipality of Brindisi and other institutions highlights the importance of the event for the valorization of the territory.
A New Brand for Brindisi
The municipal administration launched the brand “Brindisi between waves and knots” to promote activities and events related to the sea, an element of the city’s identity. This integrated approach aims to use the sea as a driving force for cultural and tourism development, uniting sport, tourism and culture under a single flag.
Twinning with the Principality of Monaco
A sporting-cultural twinning with the Federation of the Principality of Monaco has led Giacomo Sacchi Abate, representative of the Champion Marine Racing Team of Monte Carlo, to also compete with the colors of Brindisi. The Italian team Tuttamarano, with driver David Del Pin, will represent the Puglia region.
Junior Formula and Collateral Initiatives
In addition to the Italian Grand Prix – F2 World Championship, Brindisi will host the young promises of Formula Junior. The seafront will be animated by parades, free practices and exciting races, culminating in the two finals on Sunday 30 June starting from 4.30pm.
The program also includes a series of collateral initiatives, including the in-depth study “Approdi. Journey into the identity of the ports of Puglia” curated by Professor Nicolò Carnimeo, the Slow Food Village, kitesurfing, dance, vertical gym and water ball performances, a parade of vintage cars, motorbike therapy and Ciccio Riccio’s DJ set . The “Emozioni” concert with Mogol and Gianmarco Carroccia, scheduled for Saturday 29 June at 9.00 pm on the Virgilio staircase, will be the highlight of the event.
Antonio Benriamo Testimonial of the 2024 Edition
The vice world champion of USA ’94 football, Antonio Benassociazione, will be the testimonial of the 2024 edition of the Adriatic Cup. This year, drivers and teams will also have the opportunity to discover the historical-cultural beauties of Brindisi thanks to a guided tour organized by the Le Colonne Association.
