The ASL Foggia reorganizes the rehabilitation services of the Daunian capital.
With the transfer of the Viale degli Aviatori service, welfare and administrative activities are concentrated in the rehabilitation center of Tratturo Castiglione.
General director Antonio Nigri explained: “The reorganization was born with the aim of bringing together all the rehabilitation services to guarantee better care of the patient, functional to the recovery and maintenance of neuromotor and psycho-sensory functions, and easier access to treatment”.
The Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine Center, coordinated by the physiatrist Michelina Delli Bergoli, provides the guarantee of the creation of an adequate rehabilitation treatment path for all people who need it and represents the real hub of Clinical Governance.
To this end, the department guarantees the management of all public rehabilitation facilities and guarantees strong organizational integration with the accredited rehabilitation facilities affiliated with the Health Service present in the area, according to the principles of efficiency and appropriateness.
The rehabilitation department has the overall objective of helping people with disabilities or impairments achieve the highest level of autonomy and independence possible. It therefore deals with the care of people suffering from non-complex (ex art. 25 L.833/78) and complex (ex art. 26 L. 833/78) disabilities on an outpatient basis. Starting from the diagnosis, aimed at defining the appropriate rehabilitation settings, the personalized rehabilitation path is defined.
Both functional recovery programs for patients in developmental age and rehabilitation therapies for adults are active at the Tratturo Castiglione Rehabilitation Centre. Non-complex disabilities are almost always temporary following trauma or surgery of the musculoskeletal system. The treatment makes use of an individual therapeutic program, drawn up by a specialist in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and requires management by a rehabilitation professional. Speech therapy treatments also fall into this area.
Complex cases concern people suffering from significant impairments and/or disabilities, often multiple, with possible permanent outcomes, high degree of disability and requiring a multidisciplinary team (Physiatrist, Psychologist, Social Worker, Physiotherapist, Speech Therapist, Neuropsychomotricist, Social Health Worker) which carries out global management in the long term, through an Individual Rehabilitation Project, developed by a specialist doctor in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and divided into various rehabilitation programmes. Robotic treatments are also active for patients with neurological and neurodegenerative diseases.
Administrative services are also concentrated at the Tratturo Castiglione hub. Among the main activities carried out is the authorization of rehabilitation treatments in affiliated centers through the Medical Evaluation Unit (UVM), which examines and authorizes outpatient, residential and semi-residential therapies.
