Music Festival 2024: charity event in Potenza

The demonstration supports the construction of the “Elisa Claps” medical clinic in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo

On Friday 21 June 2024, the city of Potenza will host the Music Festival 2024, a charity event dedicated to raising funds for the creation of the “Elisa Claps” medical clinic in Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The initiative, organized by the Pro Loco of Potenza, the State Conservatory of Music “Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa” and the National Archaeological Museum “Dinu Adamesteanu”, enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Potenza. The event includes two distinct moments: an afternoon event at 6.30 pm at the National Archaeological Museum “Dinu Adamesteanu” (free entry) and an evening event at 9.00 pm in Piazza Matteotti (entry by invitation, with access to seats from 8:00 pm). The evening will be hosted by journalists Angela Di Maggio and Nico Basile. The afternoon event will include the performance of “Siate solo giovani”, organized by DRM-Basilicata in collaboration with Metamorfosi and Orchestra Maldestra. The evening session will feature the Wind Orchestra of the “Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa” Conservatory of Potenza and the pianist Donatello Giambersio, directed by Maestro Rocco Eletto, with the participation of the singers Giusi and Paola Telesca.

The musical program will open with “Il Fiore Bianco”, a composition by Matteo Buzzanca performed by Donatello Giambersio on the piano and the Telesca sisters. This will be followed by famous pieces such as “The Pines of the Appian Way” by Ottorino Respighi, the Overture from “Light Cavalry” by Franz von Suppé, “In a Persian Market” by Albert William Ketelbey, the “Slavic March” by Tchaikovsky, “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin, “Danzón n. 2” by Arturo Márquez and “Tico-Tico no Fubá” by Zequinha de Abreu. The Music Festival, born in France in 1982 thanks to Jack Lang and Maurice Fleuret, celebrates the diversity of musical practices every year and promotes social integration through art. In Italy, since 1997, the event has been held to coincide with the summer solstice, involving professional and amateur musicians in spontaneous performances in unconventional public spaces. Invitations for the evening event are available while supplies last at the Service Point in Via Messina 223, Potenza.
