D’Aversa returns to Serie A: after his dismissal in Lecce, the coach leaves for Empoli

Roberto D’Aversa he’s ready to get back on track. The Stuttgart coach returns to the top league and does so just over three months after being sacked in Lecce following the home defeat against Verona. After an excellent start with the Giallorossi, the Salento team went into a period of decline which cost them their bench. And now, at the gates of a summer that promises to be hot as far as the transfer market is concerned, the coaches’ waltz has also involved the former Parma and Sampdoria players. The winner was Empoli who, with Davide Nicola preparing to join Cagliari, beat the competition from Cesena.

Overtaking at the last corner
The Bianconeri from Romagna, newly promoted to Serie B, were intent on signing D’Aversa. But at the last corner, when everything seemed close to being finalized, here was the definitive overtaking of president Corsi’s Azzurri who can now announce their new coach for next season. Naturally, the objective is to maintain the category after a fabulous run-up with Nicola and the possibility of playing again in the top league which arrived in full recovery of the last match against Roma.

The details of the contract
D’Aversa will sign an annual contract with an option and will soon be announced by the club. The official announcement will arrive as soon as Davide Nicola, still under contract, has reached an agreement with Cagliari, giving way to the domino of the benches. A new opportunity for the coach who returns to the track to erase what happened at the end of his Salento experience.
