The Democratic Party’s reply note on the disputed pharmacy in Borgo Rivo.
“What happened today in the city council – claims the Terni Democratic Party – has no precedent at least in recent history, of the highest city meeting. 10 amendments out of 11 presented by our council group were not admitted to the discussion, regarding the resolution concerning the establishment of a new pharmacy, with technical opinions against, but with positive financial opinions and with an opinion also favorable, on the admission of two out of three members of the Bureau.
We are absolutely convinced – we read in the note – that when new businesses also open for pharmacy services, they can enrich the local economy, but if the location choices as in today’s case are supported by growth prospects and security for the entire reference market, also considering that this is the fourth question in a shortlist whose announcement now dates back to a very distant period in time, namely 2012. The reference market, which is that of the pharmaceutical service, the which precisely due to its characteristics is not competitive, at least for the part of its activities relating to the sale of medicines. We only asked to respect the characteristics and sizes envisaged for that area by the master plan and the regulations, not departing from the sizes, as the municipal council decided to propose to the council. We also asked to guarantee security for the indirect municipal assets, represented by the municipal pharmacy in the northern area of Terni, which due to its proximity would risk a penalty in turnover. We also pointed out the lack of public parking and the non-municipal ownership of the access road to the new business. We believed that with some improvements, the city could benefit from a new service with all the necessary features. Unfortunately we have encountered the usual arrogance of those who, taken by their own failures, use every moment to throw it into confusion and to call others ‘disgusting’. We will continue to fight for better services, starting from pharmaceutical ones, in particular public ones that are increasingly closer to the needs of citizens and obviously to support private initiatives, in a coordinated way with the needs of the territory”.
