QUATTRO CASTELLA (Reggio Emilia) – A road accident with serious consequences occurred a few minutes before midnight yesterday on via Marx, in the hamlet of Puianello.

According to what was reconstructed by the carabinieri of the local station, a Volkswagen Turan driven by a 55-year-old North African resident in the village ended up against a house, fortunately uninhabited, after leaving the road. On board, together with her, two girls aged 22 and 28 and a 6 year old boy.

The emergency services sent by 118 arrived on site with four ambulances and a medical vehicle: after initial treatment on site, they were all taken to hospital in Reggio Emilia. The child is in Obi – Short Intensive Observation – while the girls both arrived at the emergency room under code “red” due to the traumas reported. The 28-year-old will most likely have to undergo surgery, a situation that seems to have been averted for the 22-year-old. Fortunately, none of them risk their lives. The woman behind the wheel instead suffered injuries judged to be of medium severity.

The firefighters intervened with three teams to extract people from the cockpit and make the area safe. The house was then declared uninhabitable and state road 63 will remain alternate one-way in that stretch, regulated by traffic lights, until the restoration works are completed.
