Civitavecchia – Grasso presents the timetable for the development of the city

Medium and long-term actions and interventions to relaunch the city. The mayoral candidate: «A leap in quality by defining certain timing and funding»

CIVITAVECCHIA – A timetable for development that looks to the three-year period 2024-2026. A Cartesian axis of government action, with certain timing and funding. Not a dream book, as administrations’ three-year plans are often defined, but a path with clear and defined stages.

This is what was presented by the centre-right mayoral candidate Massimiliano Grasso and which looks at a 360 degree development, declining in a double track: on the one hand the combination “little Big” on the other “near far”.

The first aspect considers major works and projects, which are based on an even stronger collaboration with the ADSP: we are therefore talking about theopening to the south of the port and of realization, to Marina, of a large square and a new conference center on the sea, but small interventions in the name of everyday life and with a view to the decorum of the city are also taken into consideration. «It is for this reason – he explained – that one of our departments will be dedicated to decoration and maintenance».

By “near-far” we mean the time necessary, with interventions that need to be implemented immediately and others that require more time.

«Our first resolution, in the first 100 days of office – he added – will be the one relating to change of intended use of the 130 hectares of backport: this is our wealth in terms of development, a fundamental area for a logistics hub serving the port.”

Instead, we will have to work for a few more years, with the points set between the second half of 2025 and 2026, for example, for redevelopment of the former Italcementi areaconsidering the bureaucratic part to be carried out, the introduction of the punctual tariff following a revision of the separate waste collection model, the creation of a new Museum Center and the Marconian Museumalso and above all to enrich the tourist and cultural offer of the city and the start of city energy community, the Hydrogen valley and the logistics hub.

Then there is space for sports facilities, with the rebirth of the sport at its centre Factorsmultifunctional space, but also to spa project «not yet another broken promise – clarified Grasso – the disputes are closed and there is a private initiative: we can turn the page» and the spotlight is on the market «which is one of our priorities.

We know the critical issues and we want a constant dialogue with the operators – he added – arriving at bringing the market together to return it to the Civitavecchia residents but also to offer it to tourists, in the wake of Barcelona or Palermo”. And then clearly the relationship with Is in thewith the closure of TVN by 2025. «Enel must be a development partner for renewables and the circular economy – confirmed Grasso – it must not turn off the lights and close the door, once coal has been abandoned, but through the new agreement that we are going to sign will have to accompany the city, the Municipality, the workers, the businesses, the Authority and why not, with the launch of the city’s renewable energy community, we could achieve a reduction in costs for citizens”.

THE CONTROL CABIN AND THE DELEGATES To ensure that this timetable can materialize step by step, Grasso announced that there will be many delegates from his team. «Delegates not from broad sectors – he underlined – but on projects: a way to involve and make people responsible». But above all he also thought about the creation of a control room which, alongside the municipal administration, going beyond political affiliation, brings together «the best energies, skills and professionalism in all fields – he explained – I am thinking of Gino Saladini for culture, for example, to the engineer Pino Solinas for infrastructural projects and works, or a Paolo Poletti, who has included aspects in his electoral program that coincide with ours. I am sure he will be able to guarantee an important contribution.”

THE RELATIONSHIP WITH FORZA ITALIA Having blurred the connection, Grasso recalled how «the natural home of Forza Italia is the centre-right: the dialogue is open, in this sense – he added – the doors are open for a different involvement, strengthening us all. But affiliation is a tool that I don’t agree with, regardless, because it sacrifices and cuts off the team that supported a candidate.” The lack of formal agreement in view of the run-off, therefore, was motivated by “technical reasoning and coherence – he concluded – compared to the team with which we started”.
