checks also on food products of non-animal origin

ANCONA – A new service for maritime traffic in the Doric port. The Ministry of Health has extended the authorization to the Ancona Porto border control post to operate as a Pnao inspection center for official import controls on products of non-animal origin to be stored at a controlled temperature, intended for human consumption. In the Centre, which is already operational, foods, such as fruit and vegetables, arriving by sea from non-EU countries are now checked. The premises where the new service of the Pnao Inspection Center is active, equipped for checks and with cold rooms for food conservation, have been made available by the Port System Authority in the area of the new Darsena. The port of Ancona was already included in the national list of border control posts authorized to carry out import checks on products of animal origin.

The new control service on these products will allow the expansion to further commercial traffic, providing support to port operators working in this sector. «We are very satisfied with the activation of this new authorization at the border control post for which we thank the Ministry of Health and in particular the Ancona headquarters of the Uvac-Pcf, veterinary offices for the fulfillment of community obligations – states the President of Port System Authority of the Central Adriatic Sea, Vincenzo Garofalo -. The effective collaboration between institutions has once again led to a concrete result that benefits both citizens and port operators who will now be able to work to intercept the growth opportunities also linked to the commercial traffic of these products”.
