Bridge over the Calcatese, reinforcement works awarded

The redevelopment project of the Tuscia roads also includes bridges.

The Province of Viterbo has in fact awarded the works of reinforcement and seismic adaptation of the bridge over the SP Calcatese, within the territory of the municipality of Faleria. The intervention will therefore start shortly.

This is an important extraordinary maintenance job commissioned by the Province of Viterbo for a total amount of 600 thousand euros: the objective is to protect the safety of both the superstructure and the road users who use it. Specifically, the intervention will first involve the milling of the current pavement and the subsequent resurfacing of the asphalt in bituminous conglomerate with a whole series of measures for the correct disposal of rainwater; the railings will then be removed as bridge edge barriers with pedestrian handrails and safety balustrades will be installed in their place; finally the sidewalks will also be redone.

The Province of Viterbo will also carry out injections of a low pressure hydraulic lime mixture beneath the slab in order to fill the voids detected in the preliminary investigation and thus guarantee continuous support of the slab on the abutment.

«The redevelopment of provincial roads is the priority of this administration – comments the president of the province of Viterbo, Alessandro Romoli -. Through targeted planning and continuous dialogue with the various municipalities of Tuscia, for over two years we have been able to systematically intervene in the road sections that require maintenance. This is the Province understood as the ‘home of the municipalities’, where we collaborate together for the growth and development of our beautiful Province”, concludes Romoli.
