Valeria Vanossi in the heart: the last farewell from Legnano

The last farewell to Valeria Vanossi in the church of San Domenico among the sirens of the police and ambulances

Legnano – An emotional community from Legnano packed the meeting church of San Domenico to bid farewell to Valeria Vanossi, in memory of the “good works and caresses of good love” that Valeria was able to donate in her long volunteer work, as Don Claudio recalled at the beginning of the funeral ceremony.

Valeria Vanossileaves his son Marcograndson Mirko and daughter Carolina who wanted to remember his mother by lovingly depicting her strength and fragility, generosity and the ability to go beyond criticism. “Now I’ll have to cut the umbilical cord” he said, aware that the human legacy that today mourns Valeria’s passing will be able to embrace and support itself.

In the church there were banners of the Civil protection, Of the White Cross of Milan and the essential “Sun in the heart” of which Vanosse was president, the first association in Italy that provides for the inclusion of disabled children as volunteers, a “detail” that is not at all irrelevant and which well represents the vision of volunteering promoted by the association.

Everyone was present at the funeral, from the civil and religious authorities to the representatives of the police force and the doctors and managers of the Legnano hospital with whom Vanossi collaborated on several occasions with particular dedication to cancer patients. Realities that wanted to make their voices heard before the end of the funeral, which concluded with the reading of the “Policeman’s Prayer” dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, patron saint of the Police since, among the many activities promoted by Valeria Vanossi, there was also one carried out in collaboration with the PS who remembered her by saying “Cop for a day, cop for life“.

The last farewell was that of Father Renato Rosso who, in the dialogue with Valeria, recommended a period of rest but not an eternal one, so that from up there she can continue to support the many vulnerable people she cared for in life.

The participation of tenor Luca Tedeschi, made the ceremony particularly emotional. Upon exiting the church, the coffin was welcomed by the attention of the Civil Protection followed by the launch of balloons and the greeting of the sirens of the ambulances, the Carabinieri and the police forces present.

The words of Don Claudio

The reflection proposed by Don Claudio was inspired by Psalm n. 77: “I remember your wonders of the past. I am considering your works,
I meditate on all your exploits” and then added:Valeria does not appear before God with a list of things done, because good spreads by itself. It’s a free good and when you do good, someone always has something to say.” referring to the reading of Luke 6,39-45 chosen for the function: “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye and do not notice the plank that is in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ while you yourself do not see the plank that is in your eye?”

Don Claudio then explained that the biblical equivalent of the expression “Sun in the heart” And “the fire of God is within us” underlining that “The good man, from the treasure of his heart, brings out the good” and the good that Valeria Vanossi he shared in life will continue to shine with the “Sun in the Heart“.
