There are fifteen project proposals deemed suitable by the technical committee and therefore admitted to the vote for the 2024 Participatory Budget of the City of Acireale. Once the technical, economic and legal feasibility of the interventions has been ascertained, the citizens of Acea will now be the ones to choose.

Voting will take place from 24/06/2024 to 08/07/2024 (including Saturday and Sunday), from 9.00 to 13.00 from Monday to Sunday, while on Tuesday also in the afternoon from 15.00 to 18.00 at the Management Center in Via degli Ulivi 21 (entrance hall to the Social Services facility) and at the URP office in Via Lancaster, 13. Anyone entitled to vote will be able to go freely to vote at one of the two polling stations. All citizens resident in the municipality of Acireale as of today, equipped with a valid identity document and health card, will be entitled to participate in the voting.

Mayor Roberto Barbagallo and Budget Councilor Enzo Di Mauro express satisfaction with the positive feedback from citizens, who wanted to actively contribute with their projects to the administrative activity of the Authority and hope for wide participation also in the voting phase.

“We have always underlined the value of the Participatory Budget to stimulate the democratic life of the city. We are working on updating the regulation to further broaden the participatory process, – announces the mayor Roberto Barbagallo -. We have received more proposals than in recent years and it is already a positive sign and there are beautiful and important projects for the community. We remind you that the 50 thousand euros will be divided between projects deemed useful by the citizens for the center and the upstream and seaside hamlets and that at least 30% of the amount will be allocated to interventions that will benefit children and disadvantaged people”.

The process of the 2024 Participatory Budget was followed by the Budget Department, headed by Councilor Enzo Di Mauro and managed by the Financial Area, directed by Maria Antonia Battaglia, with Loredana Greco as sole manager of the procedure.

“Now all citizens will be protagonists, who are called to vote, and will choose the proposals that they consider most valid for the city. Voting will take place for 15 consecutive days and those interested will be able to choose where to vote between Palazzo di Città and the offices in via degli Ulivi, – comments budget councilor Enzo di Mauro -. We thank those who wanted to present useful proposals for the city and we thank the Financial Area offices and Dr. Loredana Greco for the commitment shown throughout the process”.
