Reggio Calabria, illegal landfill north of the Calopinace river [FOTOGALLERY]

We receive and publish the report from the coordinator of Sovereign People’s Democracy Giuseppe Modafferi:

“For weeks, numerous reports have been received, supported by photographic material, of a municipal area illegally used as a landfill by some citizens. From the analysis of the material and the facts we make a formal complaint against unknown persons for abandonment of waste and consequent formation of an illegal landfill as mentioned in article 256 paragraph 3 of Legislative Decree no. 152/06 which sanctions the construction and management of an illegal landfill, in the area in via Argine Sinistro north of Fiume Calopinace adjacent to via Boschicello and in front of Spirito Santo.

We also denounce that this area of abandoned waste is also subject to numerous fires set in motion for the illegal disposal of the waste itself, with the consequent development of dioxin in the area to the detriment of the health of the surrounding population. The fires are evidenced by the photos acquired but are easily verifiable with an inspection of the same.
We also appeal to the Health Guarantor to put an end to this illegal practice which disfigures the territory but, even more seriously, damages people’s health.
We urgently request the closure of the road to vehicles in the area in question and the patrolling of the same or the use of cameras to secure the road which can be reached by skirting the walls of the Carabinieri student school in Via Reggio Modena”.
