These days in the streets of Modena it is possible to come across a vehicle with strange devices and in the parks there are people equipped with particular instruments equipped with sensors. In fact, the necessary survey activities for the “Digital twin” project are underway, one of the initiatives developed by the Municipality, with also the resources of the Pnrr, as part of the 2024 Digital Plan approved in recent months by the Municipal Council as a tool for strategic direction and planning of the Smart City.
With “Digital twin” the digital twin of the city will be created, a tool that allows us to improve the planning and management of the urban area, the efficiency of various services and activities. It is, in fact, a precise, detailed and three-dimensional digital reproduction of the city, with buildings, roads, greenery, technological and infrastructural networks, thus making a model available to technicians and administrators to evaluate in advance, in a virtual manner and thanks to the possibility 3D navigation, the impact of actions regarding urban planning, mobility, the environment and urban greenery, the organization of services.
Entrusted to Geolander, of the Gemmlab srl company, the surveys on the city of Modena, the so-called “digital mapping, and the connection with the already existing databases concern in particular the road network, the house numbering, the advertising systems, the points of tourist interest, public road greenery, green areas and parks.
