Current issues on stage with the artistic direction between Calabria, Puglia and Sicily
CALABRIA. The SudDiVisioni festival is back. The first Calabrian show will be staged on June 21st at 6.30 pm in the auditorium of San Pietro Maida, a municipality in the Lamezzo hinterland, with free admission. The scheduled show is “Snow White, don’t open that door” curated by “La Contrada Teatri Stabile” of Trieste, founded in 1976. It was founded by a group of actors from the Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia who gave life to a path full of ideas and projects. Freely based on the famous fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, the play presents the famous Snow White in a different dimension than usual, a little less romantic but very funny due to her carelessness. The initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Pro Loco of San Pietro a Maida.
SudDiVisioni will continue on July 1st with the representation “At the sea” and on July 3 with “Il nano Rumplestiltskin”; both appointments are scheduled for 6.30pm at the Agriturismo Costantino in Maida. “The dwarf Rumpelstiltskin”, inspired by the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and enriched by nursery rhymes from the Italian popular tradition, will be brought to the stage by the “Cattivi masters theatre” company of Savona. On July 4th we return to the auditorium in Fiume a Saint Peter Maida with the piece “Buon viaggio”, scheduled for 6.30 pm.
The festival will stop in Sorbo San Basile, municipality of the Sila area of Catanzaro, where for June 22nd “Bianca Neve don’t open that door” is on the bill. On July 5th it will be the turn of the show “Have a good trip” curated by the Teatro Actores Alidos of Cagliari: it is the story of an imaginary journey that starts from an abandoned suitcase but which never begins. Situations that intertwine, move and also make you dream. While on July 13th the festival will end with the performance of “Don chisciotte” curated by Nata Teatro di Bibbiena. It is a tribute to Cervantes’ masterpiece through the gaze of the actor who immerses himself deeply and madly in new worlds to explore. The exceptional stage for the three plays will be Mabos Museum which will open its doors to the public starting from 6pm.
SudDiVisioni is a special project featuring the Teatrop company from Lamezia and the companies Molino D’Arte from Altamura and La Casa Di Creta from Catania; three realities that bring the avant-garde theater of Calabria, Puglia and Sicily to the stage. Three ‘pieces’ of Southern Italy who have put together their skills and their workers to create high-level posters with the participation of professional companies and artists from all over Italy.
“Companies in synergy with each other – explain the artistic directors of SudDiVisioni 2024 – through the festival they distribute shows specifically dedicated to families with the aim not only of creating and preserving over time the cultural union that is achieved through theatre; but also to create the necessary network between artists in the sector with the blossoming of relationships and the efficient exchange of diversified cultural products across the territories”.
As regards the Calabrian festival, with the three events in Sila an important exchange takes place between the world of theatre, tourism and culture in general. An osmosis that always has as its main objective that of creating profitable meeting opportunities between young people and adults in order to improve generational dialogue within families. It should also be noted that during the days of the festival there will also be scheduled theater workshops curated by the Lametina company Teatrop artistically directed by Greta Belometti and Pierpaolo Bonaccurso.
Therefore, also for the 2024 edition, SudDiVisioni offers various types of shows with highly topical themes. Not only shows but also laboratory activities for children and parents in a shared vision of collective growth and cultural exchange. We smile together, we have fun, but we also reflect on highly relevant issues that concern the globalized society in which we live.
